The words “You have breast cancer” require an urgent need for answers. HealthONE and Susan G. Komen® Colorado are your resources for providing answers to your questions. In Colorado, 1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. This year 4,100 women in Colorado will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 560 will die from the disease. Komen Colorado is working to better the lives of those facing breast cancer in our community. In 2016, Komen Colorado awarded $1 million to provide breast cancer care for those in need. The grants support 18 breast health and breast cancer projects that will be administered by 15 nonprofit hospitals, health care clinics, and community-based organizations. In addition, Komen Colorado has partnered with the HealthONE system of hospitals to provide you with information and resources about breast cancer through a robust online tool: www.BreastCancerQandA.com.
HealthONE and Susan G. Komen® Colorado have formed this educational partnership to provide reliable information for those who need answers. Informative videos have been created to answer relevant questions. In one video, a genetic counselor discusses the Role of Genetics in Breast Cancer including the importance of knowing your family history and the dramatic impact that history can have on the risks of and potential treatment for breast cancer. In another video, the medial director of the Sarah Cannon Research Institute talks about Breast Cancer Research and New Advances. Many more topics can be accessed by this valuable tool.
